Farmers across Dumfries and Galloway have information sitting in different programs that do not communicate. Somebody in the farm office ends up manually moving the data between them. We build software that does that automatically.
Local by choice
FarmSmart is based at Mouswald, a few miles east of Dumfries on the A75. We chose to build a farm software business here because the region is full of well-run family farms that have outgrown their admin: dairy units milking hundreds of cows, suckler and sheep farms on the hills, mixed holdings on the Solway plain and the contractors, marts and merchants that serve them. They deserve the same quality of software the big agri-businesses get, sized for a one-person farm office.

Time spent on repetitive administration has economic value even when the farmer does it personally. An hour spent manipulating a spreadsheet is an hour that cannot be spent inspecting stock, managing staff, planning purchases, maintaining equipment or finishing the working day earlier. Automation is not about reducing payroll on a family farm. It is about getting the evening back.
