The Human API: When a Person Becomes the Integration
When Software A does not talk to Software B, somebody exports, edits and imports. That person has become the API. Here is what to do about it.
Many farms have an invisible integration system: a person. When two systems do not communicate, someone exports information from one, manipulates it in a spreadsheet and puts it into the other.

The goal is not to remove people from the process where judgement matters. It is to stop using people for predictable, repeatable data movement that software can perform consistently, and to let them manage the exceptions instead.
